Project SEARCH Comes to Conway for Adults with Disabilities

Conway, SC – Several local organizations have teamed up to bring Project SEARCH to Horry County beginning on Friday, March 22nd at Conway Medical Center. Project SEARCH is an internationally recognized employment training program for adults with intellectual disabilities. On Friday, 20 applicants will participate in a skills assessment to determine the 10 participants for the program.

The skills assessment will consist of several stations and an interview. Stations will include such tasks as sanitizing and making a bed, doing dishes, and putting together orientation folders. If chosen, the applicants would participate in a year-long program involving classroom time and 3 internships in different departments within the hospital.

SOS Health Care, Conway Medical Center, CCU LIFE Program, Horry County Schools, Vocational Rehabilitation, and SC Department of Disabilities and Special Needs joined forces to prepare adults with disabilities for competitive employment through the Project SEARCH Program.
