CMC announces Phase 1B vaccination plan

In accordance with the governor’s announcement today to expand vaccine eligibility to Phase 1B and include those age 55 and up, Conway Medical Center will begin accepting appointment requests for that newly eligible population on Monday, March 8, 2021. At that time, those eligible can go to ConwayMedicalCenter.com to be placed on a waiting list for an appointment. Appointment requests for the newly-eligible population made prior to March 8 will not be honored. The appointment waiting list is currently only open to those in Phase 1A – age 65+ and frontline healthcare workers. For those patients already on the waiting list who may have been able to schedule an appointment or receive a vaccine through another provider, please go to “I no longer need the vaccine” on the CMC COVID-19 Hub.

Conway Medical Center has administered more than 25,000 doses of the Pzifer vaccine since December 14, 2020 when we were the first in the state to give this shot to a frontline healthcare worker. We have more than 11,000 appointments currently scheduled over the next several weeks. We received more than 40,000 appointment requests from Phase 1A and have about 2,500 still on the waiting list. We are scheduling them for appointments in late March and early April. Right now, we are running our clinic seven days a week administering about 3,600 vaccines per week, including both 1st and 2nd doses. We are ready and willing to expand our capabilities and provide more vaccines per day/week, but that is dependent on a reliable increase in supply.

As previously announced, Conway Medical Center has plans in place with Horry County Schools to provide vaccines to their employees. CMC has a separate clinical team identified and logistical plans in place to administer these vaccines without impacting those with existing appointments or who are on the waiting list. At this time, our only limiting factor is supply. We will continue to work with Horry County Schools on their vaccination plan.
